A swan is born in Wesley Lake

October 11, 2025 by Blogfinger

In June, 2025, a pair of swans gave birth to a baby ( a cygnet.).  Despite the ecology of this lake, the baby began to thrive.   Then, unexpectedly, the parents vanished leaving the baby to fend for itself in July.

Some Lake Avenue Grovers took an interest in the cygnet, and there was some concern about some of them tossing unhealthy foods making it impossible for the baby to develop good foraging skills.

Then a group called “Friends of Cyggie the Cygnet”  kept watch over the baby including naming it and educating the public about feeding.

Despite Cyggie’s orphan status, it began to grow and forage for food.  Today, October 10, 2025. Stephen and his dog Pooja noticed Cyggie swimming around, and when Stephen called the baby swan, it quickly headed over to Stephen and Pooja.  They were pleasantly surprised.

I Love this video. Cyggie’s doing great, even in this polluted lake!!! Great survival skills.
