Eileen and I were enjoying a sunny Tuesday afternoon downtown in the Grove. We didn’t see many people, but most of the parking spaces were taken. It was 4 pm when we strolled into Odyssey Coffee, the new coffeeshop which opened on March 1 on Main Avenue, corner of Pilgrim Pathway. The café is bright and cheerful.
The shop was moderately crowded with most seats taken and no crowd at the counter. We saw a man analyzing some architectural drawings spread out in front of him. That table could have seated 5, but he was alone, on the phone. I saw a group of 5 come in; they were looking around at the lack of seats for their group. One man was sitting outside.
Eileen and I ordered cappuccinos, a drink made with espresso, steamed milk and milk foam. There were two young women behind the counter. They were happy and the barista was concentrating on the drinks she was preparing.
The coffees came out lukewarm in sturdy porcelain cups. They were excellent. Most of the food was gone.
They had about half of a quiche left. We shared a piece, and it was very good and was heated to lukewarm.
The sign said that they would soon have paninis. They are crusty sandwiches made with ciabatta bread. They can be served hot or cold. The sign also said that they will serve regular sandwiches.
I am looking forward to trying their espresso.
Congratulations to Odyssey Coffee.
