Andy Meyer, a Grover, was the first to identify this home as being in Allenhurst. He says that he has ridden past it many times on his bicycle. He has won an original signed photo print by meeee.
The black and white print which he wins was made by me in my black and white darkroom. All our prints are limited editions.
What’s amazing is that this home is not only ocean front, but you can’t even drive past it along the ocean. I love the fact that there are two flags flying. Also note that amazing tiled roof.
This is what the Borough of Allenhurst says about itself:
The Borough of Allenhurst was developed on the site of a 120 acre farm originally owned by Abner Allen. It was incorporated on April 26, 1897. Due to its location at the seashore and accessibility from New York City by the railroad, the Borough benefited from the resort boom at the turn of the 20th century. The many grand homes built back then have been faithfully preserved and in 2010, The Allenhurst Residential Historic District was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The Borough of Allenhurst owns and operates the Allenhurst Beach Club which features a large salt water pool which is filled from the ocean every night during the summer season. The beach at the ABC is open to the public for a daily fee with handicap access found at the east end of Allen Ave and Cedar Ave.
The Borough also has a quaint downtown business district and a beautiful lakefront park and playground which is located at the western end of Corlies and Spier Avenues
