Tambourine
The tune of summer
is not a modest one,
with the show-off sun
playing yellow notes
over miles of ocean,
and the wind blowing
in some exotic key,
and him turning cartwheels,
his pockets full of shells.
BOB DYLAN sings a “jingle jangle ” song that goes well with “pockets full of shells.”

Where might one purchase this book?
FROM CHARLES PIERRE:
Hi Paul:

Charles Pierre
14 Stuyvesant Oval

New York, NY 10009
I got to spend some time with Charles Pierre this week during his vacation in the Grove. His new book “Coastal Moments” is out, and “Tambourine” is one of the collection of short poems structured the same way with 3 paragraphs each. He’s been working on this collection since 1989—-“I’m slow,” he says.
The book is autobiographical and is divided into “Boy,” “Man,” and “Elder.” “Tambourine” is from the first section. Charles said that this poem was inspired by seeing a boy do a cartwheel on a beach and he was also reminded of the Dylan song.
Charles suggested that I use the photo at the top of this post.
We recently published two other poems by Charles on Blogfinger:
“Brief Intervals of Harmony”
“Spring at Ocean Grove”
You can find those posts by going to the search box at the top of the blog page and type in “Charles Pierre.”
