The deli sandwiches are massive but wonderful. This is a”large” which is enough for 3 people. (we already ate some) and with takeout leftovers. Comes with rye bread, pickle bar, cole slaw, mustard, fries hot out of the oil. Everything is authentic which means it tastes just as you remember it from New York.
This couple ordered corned beef and a side of onion rings. They were going to take most of it home after sampling the merchandise.

Harolds Famous Deli serves “The World’s Best Pastrami.” Their deli does make outstanding Jewish style foods, including corned beef, brisket, tongue, smoked fish, dairy, soups including chicken soup, and others. Everything was delicious. My cousin Marty used to say that a pastrami sandwich should drip fat down to your elbows. Yes, some fat is essential for texture and taste, but Harold’s isn’t too fatty. You can order “lean” if you wish, but close your eyes and don’t do it. You can go back to the pickle bar. And they give you wrappings to take some home. Many people come for the takeout. But it’s better to sit down and let the fine wait staff let you have it.
It came to about $70.00 for we three kings of orient are. (Were the 3 kings Jewish?). There is at least a pound of meat for the “large.” They have massive cakes for dessert. We passed on that.
Eileen’s sister Hope finally showed up to visit us from Maryland where you can only dream about this food. I was waiting patiently for her arrival because Eileen would keep sayin, “Wait till Hope comes.”
Hope scarfs it all down with relish; no actually with the “real deal” mustard smeared on the bread which is perfect Jewish rye.

Years ago when we lived in Montville we frequented Harold’s in Parsippany. Same owner as Edison. I liked to sit in the Henny Youngman booth, which was the booth he frequented. There were framed photos of famous celebrity customers along the wall. Wonderful generous servings of corned beef and a great pickle bar. Preferred it to the Carnegie Deli in NY. Thanks for the review and will try Harold’s the next time we are in the area. Henny Youngman one liner: “Every time I ask what time it is a get a different answer”.
