We once examined a package of “chicken wontons” (raviolis) at Wegmans. The label revealed an outrageous number of ingredients, perhaps 30. And none of the ingredients was chicken. We were worried about that label, so we put it back.
Eileen and I go food shopping together, and we like to read labels. We got into that when we wrote our first edition of “Prevention Does Work.—A Guide to a Healthy Heart.” At that time we were talking most about saturated fats, cholesterol, fiber and Mediterranean diets. The term “processed foods” was not in our vocabulary then.
We know that many of you are aware that processed foods are risky to good health, but it turns out that most American diets consist of mostly (60%) processed foods such as potato chips, packaged pastries, hot dogs, etc.
Food manufacturers have labs that strive to seduce you with addictive and flavorful ingredients like salt, sugar, oils, fats, and other processed ingredients.
An incredible study* just came out that offers proof of the adverse effects of processed foods from around the world, and millions of people were studied. Ordinarily we don’t bring internet video reports to Blogfinger because of suspicions as to their validity. The video link is at bottom below.

But we are very impressed by a video report today on Epoch News. (below). It describes a summary of the trial above regarding risks of diseases linked to intake of processed foods. The findings are strong enough to suggest that many nations should pay attention to their dietary ways.
