The OG Chamber of Commercials ordinarily spends its time seducing large crowds of tourists into town to promote business for the downtown shops. Across America, Chambers of Commerce work to promote the towns where they live, from sponsoring parades to Little League programs, but not in this town.
Now they want the residents of Ocean Grove to give money to do seasonal plantings, holiday decorations, decorative lighting, street maintenance, and leaf cleanup. Really?
Who paid for those things in your home towns? Those items should be provided by Neptune Township, CMA, and the Chamber itself. When the CC has their many events, do you suppose they make money? Where does that money go?
Here is their calendar for 2024. They are having 9 dopey events on prime season Saturdays. And they close off parking spaces and attract large crowds. They suck the joy out of our quaint historic town.
How much money do you think they make each year, and shouldn’t the profits go to the town?
Take a look at your Neptune tax bill. Do you want to now pay out-of-pocket for leaf cleanup downtown?
