The APP posted a lengthy and boring, off-the-mark, article late today, Feb. 5, 2024, all about Ocean Grove and its controversies regarding Sunday beach closures. The piece is mostly about the history of the Grove and provides nothing new for Grovers who already are well aware of these topics. But it gives the Press a juicy story to massage over and over and over.
The article begins with one glaring error: it says that “The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association effectively governs the town.”
After that the article goes downhill. It fails to get into the very soul of life in this unique and fascinating historic district.
And the court hearing on the beach issue will touch the essence of religious vs secular in the Grove, and that will lead to more explosive interactions. Curiously, the piece did not mention the most vociferous of the complainers: Neptune United–a group that has currently gone silent. Nor did it mention the leading source of accurate reporting about OG’s turmoil regarding clashing freedoms.–ie Blogfinger.net
Blogfinger has hammered away at these core concerns, but it ain’t easy. Our positions have been clear and will not be repeated unless such repetition becomes necessary.
