Every year, the Ocean Grove Lifeguards participate in a series of competitions which lead up to the possibility of making the Nationals.  Ocean Grove sponsored this tournament, led by their new chief lifeguard jamie Doyle. There were 5 events testing lifeguard skills.  It was a lovely evening, but the surf was rough, upsetting many of the boats and dragging swimmers to the north.  11 teams participated in the event.

In the end, the winner today was Long Branch with 33 points. Second was Spring Lake with 30.  Belmar was third with 29 points.  Ocean Grove tied for fifth with 26 points.

As for the photographers at the event, most of them were shooting with long lenses out to 500 mm.  I am not a sports or nature photographer, so I was there with my 75 mm lens.  But it was a terrific photo op, and I focused on the athletes on shore or coming back to shore.   I guess we can call this the Blogfinger 1st annual swimsuit edition.
