a. Chinese to publish the book A Waiter in Paris with my photograph on the cover. I don’t know if it will be in English or Chinese, but each book will come with a fortune cookie.
b. In our article about Eve Arnold, I reported: “She was the first woman to be accepted to the famed photo agency Magnum. Eve Arnold said that she wanted to be known as a photographer and not as a female photographer.”
But now the Coastericans, in a front page headline, report that there is a “Historic Moment in Neptune City: First female mayor sworn in.”
Doesn’t this make you women furious? Presumably she was elected by the people of Neptune City for her qualities other than her XX chromosomes. But the headline suggests otherwise.
Does the headline mean that the Mayor was chosen to satisfy some attempt at equity in that town? Our society has brought us doubt due to DEI nonsense. Let’s get back to choosing the most qualified….then there will be no need to categorize winners by their identities.
c. The Coastericans report( 1/4/24) that the CMA has dropped a lawsuit against two Grovers who had been crashing the Sunday morning beach entrances. BF already had reported that.
There was no explanation for the CMA’s action now, but in the Coaster article, the newspaper brought in a group called the “Surfrider Foundation” as journalistic mercenaries to support Neptune United’s aggressiveness regarding the CMA Sunday closures. But the Coastericans failed to thoroughly explain who these Surfriders are.
This group is not merely “an environmental organization interested in access to beaches.” They also have political biases: They admit that they “are making commitments to elevate Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) in our work, both internally and externally”.
And they also say:
- “We call out systemic racism and work aggressively to remove any institutional barriers that add layers of disadvantage and environmental injustice to Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and LGBTQ+ communities.
- ..and promote openness and tackle microaggressions. There is no room for discriminatory behavior, such as bullying and harassment in our organization.”
So this is what the Coaster is bringing to bear over a dispute about summer Sunday morning beach closures in OG. I wonder how they feel about religion. And the Coaster wears its bias on its sleeve.
Also the Coaster says that Ocean Grove was founded “through a special charter with Monmouth County.” Really?
And they say, “The OGCMA has defended its ban on beach access on the basis that Sundays are the Lord’s Day.” Nonsense.
Once again they have shown ignorance of our town. And the writer of this piece does not get a byline for his/her biased and dumb reporting.
