
My Dad referred to bread as “the staff of life” and he insisted on bread with each meal.
In the show Don Quixote there is this: “If thou tastest a crust of bread, thou tastest all the stars and all the heavens. Bread is the king of the table and all else is merely the court that surrounds the king. With bread all sorrows are less” – Sancho Panza speaking to Dapple, his ass in Don Quixote.
And, of course, the Old and New Testaments have references to bread including the manna which the Hebrews ate during their Exodus journey. And Jesus also spoke of bread.

Thanks Lewis, but we prefer a slice of salami with mustard, or tuna salad with tomato and raw onion. And then there are the sausage, pepper and onion sandwiches found at the Jersey Shore and enjoyed on Grovarian porches with sea breezes lovingly flowing by.
Erin and James are our neighbors, and their glorious breads are mostly distributed in restaurants, but we have been able to enjoy them on occasion because we know the bakers and we know where to buy them.
