Bradley Beach has a group called the Bradley Beach Business and Community Alliance. They say that “an engaged community is stronger together.” This alliance consists of “residents (mentioned first,) business, and non-profits.” (eg like the CMA in the Grove?)
Take a look at what this Alliance came up with as a desirable plan for public activities. (see above) and compare it with what goes on in the Grove.
Of course we have the Camp Meeting Association which fulls our calendar with their offerings. And we have a Chamber of Commercials which drowns us with useless events that offer nothing to the citizens of Ocean Grove other than more congestion, heart unhealthy food, and trash for sale.
In Bradley Beach their Chamber is currently inactive. The business community there joins with the Alliance for the benefit of those who live there. There is nothing in their programs that seeks to attract tourism. It looks like their Alliance is the way to go for them. Can we emulate their approach?
But our lives in the Grove are more complicated than theirs, and the residential community here could use some changes to improve our life styles.
Take a close look at what the people of Bradley Beach do to achieve peace, quiet, and lack of congestion in prime season.
Should we strive for change in OG?
TAYLOR SWIFT: “Change”
Thanks Rich. At least you have an organizational framework to doing what’s best for the citizens, and that event schedule speaks for itself. Ocean Grove is chaotic in terms of community because of the self centered factions which ignore we-the-people.
The Bradley Beach Business and Community Alliance is by and large a business-centric organization. The word “community” in their title is for diplomatic reasons insofar as I have been made aware. When I was asked casually to become a member I explained that I thought it was a business focused organization and asked what is there for me as a resident. I received no answer.
Recently at a council meeting the mayor boasted of the success of the concert series held at the Borough owned Ryley Park. He stated that a business owner was elated that after a concert there were people lined up waiting to get into his restaurant.
Well and good that people were drawn here and that the businesses did well and good for those residents who had the opportunity to attend. Last Saturday our family didn’t go as we planned to go after dinner but by the time we arrived at 7:00 it was over. Yea, my fault as I should have checked the time.
Later that say I heard from others who were involved in a conversation at the beach where a conversation about the concert starting so early rather than at 7:00 as they had been for years until recently. The consensus was that they too would like to be considered so that they wouldn’t have to forfeit their time at the beach so they could attend the concerts
