Jack Bredin’s paintings are deceptively fantastical. Yet if you study them, as in his latest work, there are many true details to discover, all of which are based on Ocean Grove’s history and reality.
For example you can find the last edition of the OG Fishing Pier visible through the foggy distant haze. But his artistic style is not meant to be photographic. He enjoys a bit of fanciful fiction and humor here and there.
Grovers are usually portrayed in his work, and the photographer in this painting seems to bear some resemblance to me, but, of course, I’m much better looking.
And then there is a young couple with a dog. As OG’s demographics continue to evolve, we do see quite a few young couples who have dogs, but in Jack’s next painting perhaps they will be walking a toddler. We call this youth movement “The Ocean Grove Underground.”
The house is certainly Victorian and accurately portrays the most important and common architectural details in the Grove.
There are 9 flags shown here, and Jack Bredin wanted to show the flag display seen every 4th in patriotic Ocean Grove.

Couldn’t love his style more.
Jack’s Painting celebrates the Fourth of July and Ocean Grove
lifestyle for sure!
Neat painting.
Another masterpiece by Jack. The haze adds a welcome dimension to Jack’s never ending creativity.
Another Bredin classic. Captures “independence” OG style.
