a. Bridgefest, the annual 2 day Christian festival is in town Friday (6/23) and Saturday 6/24. The festival is sponsored by an outside group (bridge fest.org) and strives to bring thousands of Christians to the Grove from the tri-state area and beyond. It is based on a radio station: the Bridge Christian Radio.
There is a vast program planned over these two days, all ultimately based on Jesus Christ, but there are sports and special events for kids, a major concert in the Great Auditorium tonight, sermons and lessons, and Q and A sessions with well known pastors. There will be food, and it sounds like a good time for all concerned.
There will be shuttle buses to bring participants in and out of the Grove. Neptune has offered the elementary school on Rt. 33 for parking.
On Saturday at 4:30 pm there will be a crowd on the Beach to witness baptisms.
b. An Ocean Grover, Shane Roberts, is concerned about Bridgefest because he doesn’t like the theology of Rev. Lloyd Pulley who founded Bridgefest and will conduct some teaching sessions.
So SR sent a letter to the Coaster 6/21. quoting some of Rev. Pulley’s prior statements, taken out of context. It’s not clear what parts of those quotes SR is unhappy with, but the Reverend’s words are condemned before he even opens his mouth in the Grove. SR says, “I do not believe that Pulley’s views reflect the diverse community that is Ocean Grove. Do you?”
So, Shane Roberts seems to think that a religious leader who comes to speak in the Grove has to appeal to everyone in town. But of course, that is silly. We do have freedom of speech in America, and if Rev. Pulley actually says something in the Grove that SR doesn’t like, well, that is Pulley’s right.
Now that SR has said what he said, what do you suppose would be the result that he is seeking?
I suspect most Grovers won’t care what Pulley says, and if they do, they can hear him in person; just consult the schedule.
Why do the Coastericans waste ink and paper on letters such as Roberts ? He seems to want to stir up trouble, and the Coaster editors surely can see that, and the citizens of OG surely are too smart to fall for such simple-minded toxic language.
c. We complained recently that Neptune’s media department would not promote our 12th Annual Yard Sale. We pointed out that they play favorites, and that should be forbidden in a public democratic governance.
Here is a link:
BF link double standards at Neptune
After that article, the Neptuners began promoting town-wide yard sales that they are sponsoring , including one in OG. So the game is rigged against Grovers. The Neptune business manager Ms. LaPlaca should be fired because of double standards towards Neptune citizens. Below shows their promotion. The zone on top is Ocean Grove. Why wouldn’t she help us?

Blogfinger Town Wide Yard Sale in OG. Paul Goldfinger photo. This what the Neptuners refuse to help us with. If they are not for we-the-people, then who are they for?
