It’s a quiet warm September night. Strolling towards home after a musical event in the Great Auditorium. Walking around the Grove in the evening is pleasant, and one almost never feels a sense of danger.
Two women on a porch near Evergreen Park speak to us. They want to chat, so we stopped for awhile, talking about some Grovarian issue of no great magnitude. Eileen was conversing while I was looking around for something to photograph using my low light camera where you can photograph without a flash. In fact, flashes have become mostly obsolete since these high sensitivity cameras have been developed. She says that she is shy, but once she gets going, she is an expert at small talk.
I prefer large talk, or just no talk when I am photographing. This sort of photography requires concentration. No “point and shoot” under these circumstances.
Mine is a Leica “mono” camera which has a high tech sensor that only can produce black and white images. It is hand made in Germany , and I am enjoying the results. There is much to learn.
You cannot shoot in the dark; there needs to be some light.
