Eileen: A Portrait

This photo requires some background information. It’s Eileen’s Upper East Side look–somewhere on Madison Avenue— 87 th Street perhaps.  I am not allowed to say the date, but it was a time  when  there was a special barber shop (“Michael’s”)  just for “small fry.”  It was Stephen’s first haircut, and I did photograph him on that landmark day, but this shot belonged to Eileen.  She was busy making sure that his bangs were just perfect.    —-PG

    As an artist, I’ve always done my best work with people who know how to model. As a photographer, you are truly gifted and you have a photogenic wife…I’ve yet to see an unattractive picture of her.
