It’s been one year since we decided to create Blogfinger. During this time we have figured out what we want to be when we grow up. Those of you who follow us know what we do. Our main fan base consists of Ocean Grovers, but there are many who visit the site who are old friends, new friends, walk-ins, walk-ons, out-of-towners, linkers, Googlers, relatives, curiosity seekers, pole dancers and stray cats.
So many of you have sent wonderful material to post, and we thank you all.
We love the part where our readers participate in the process by making comments and contributions. We have had poems, photographs, paintings, fiction pieces, arguments, debates, polls, videos, etc. You all know, by now, that we are receptive to your input. The more input we receive, the more interesting the site becomes.
We are not a newspaper, but when given the opportunity, we relish the chance to bring some news to you before you get it elsewhere. You have seen the power of a blog in this regard, especially when we bring you timely news about Ocean Grove that you cannot find elsewhere. We had the most comprehensive coverage of the big fire in March, when over 2,000 hits occurred daily on our site.
But we really could use more help. There are so many interesting and talented people in Ocean Grove who could assist us in becoming a much better site. We want short but intelligent pieces. We want to be a quality blog, but our bar moves up and down, and that is fun. Everybody enjoys a photo of a kid with a cotton candy beard. But we also relish amazing contributions like the postings by Carol Rizzo, formerly of Kaiser Permanente, during our healthcare discussions. We want the input of the “folks:”..regular citizens who have something to say. It can be just a few sentences. It can even be a list of things, and we will turn it into a composition (we are bloggers by day and ghost writers by night.) You can post anonymously.
Please join us in spreading the word about Blogfinger. Become part of the process and tell your friends and neighbors. Hand out some of our cards. (Just email us and we will deliver some to you).

Editor’s note. Nov. 17, 2022: We started in 2009. Over time we didn’t change much. Now we have nearly reached the 4.5 million hits mark. Our goal of becoming an information-sharing site never did materialize very well, and comments have become less common. We still hope for such participation.
Ocean Grove news is being neglected by local newspapers around here, and the Grove of 100 years ago was better informed about its business than now because it had its own newspaper. Blogfinger has never purported to be a newspaper. We do headline OG news, original photography and music. We are who we are; we is what we is.
Now it is mostly a one-man-show with the help of Eileen Goldfinger and Jean Bredin. If any of you feel the journalism bug, please write something and submit it to Blogfinger@verizon.net. And you can send photos, but no Coaster style images (people in a row smiling at the camera) or low quality efforts. We do edit.
Also we still like tips, rumors and deep-throat style informants.
As for our future, “What, Me, Worry?”

Thanks for doing what you do, and have done
Congratulations, Dr. Paul! I love Blogfinger on a personal level to introduce me to new music. I love it as a politici…elected official to hear about things I would not normally have heard about and also to disseminate important Grove info and troubleshoot problems. You’ve done a great job! Congratulations and best wishes for many more anniversaries!
Thanks for a great year of wonderful and informative pieces of news and newsworthy articles. After moving out of our beloved Grove 3 years ago, it is so nice to be able to connect with the community through your blog. We might not always agree with your point of view, but we enjoy hearing you and our old friends share their thoughts. Thanks again.
paul…

“Paul, I’m very proud of what you have accomplished with Blogfinger.
I’ve always been impressed with your talents and humor.”
Thanks Michael. You may have been the littlest finger at one time, but now you’re just a big toe. love Dad
Hey Blogfinger,
For the past year you have been doing a great job keeping the people of OG (and fans of OG worldwide) informed of information good and bad in your community.
Your blog has been enjoyable to read (and view); keep up the good work.
A good newsman never sleeps; unless he lives in Ocean Grove.
Congrats!!! BLOGTOE!!
Congratulations—you are now one year old -alive & kicking–the pros & cons give us all a sense of good reporting & for that you are now part of the OG history
From Jane and Hank in Randolph, NJ (old friends) :
Congratulations from Hank and Jane. We are awarding you an Academy Award, Golden Globe, etc. What a terrific site. It just gets better and better.
From Ken Buckley: Gadfly and regularly annoying commentator. But we love to hear from Ken; he keeps us on our toes so that we can avoid his stepping on them. As for the IPO, there’s only red ink on this site, so fuhgedaboutit.
“So much content in so many postings I feel I’ve been reading blogfinger for years. But you do need more practice because we’re not on the same page yet. Try harder…you will see the light (not the RIGHT light…the one a bit to the LEFT). I do love your commentaries even when you are wrong, wrong, wrong. What a dull world if we agreed all time. All vanilla all the time=boring while choc/van/strawberry is best.
Keep it coming. Love the format improvements.
ken
PS Now ADS!!! When is the IPO? I want in.”

yes, many heart felt congratulations, the blog is a nice contribution to the community, but a question, is Wazoo a medical term 🙂 ?
From Paul: Wazoo is a cavernous portion of the gastrointestinal tract where kudos are stored.
Congratulations on your first anniversary.I am in love with your site. It is informative and entertaining in the unique Blogfinger way. On political views I am agreeable even if I disagree. {Where all think alike , no one thinks at all.} So, I hope we will be together for many more anniversaries. You and Eileen are perfect together. Congratulations.
