Jean says,  “There was a lot of kibitzing by kibitzers near  the demolished pier today.  People are still hanging out. Keeping an eye on the progress.”

Editor’s note: The Coaster reported that the pier project has violated two DEP requirements.  Despite these, work has not been stopped.   This comes on the heels of concerns about the shape of the proposed pier which looks like a cross or a small letter t.

This project has been able to go ahead without any approvals by the HPC or other Neptune boards. The new pier plan  does not resemble the historic pier designed by Rev. Stokes himself, so the design is not historic and should not have been approved. This is a bad precedent in terms of future historic rulings.  It resembles the famous “Greek Temple” in that regard.

As for the kibitzers in Jean’s photo, they are all men. They resemble the historic “Wisdom Bench” which used to meet near there and still are seen frequently.   But women would also come with their wisdom at times.

Women kibitzing near the pier?  Will the DEP allow that also?
