Fred Lyons was a prolific San Francisco professional photographer who worked right up his death in August, 2022, at age 97. He did all sorts of projects over the years including fashion work. His art is exhibited at the Fetterman Gallery in SF.
I liked his low light work, and this was from an era where there was no digital, only film which was difficult to use in low light, but now we have those incredibly sensitive digital sensors enabling low light photography to be accomplished, compared with what Fred had to deal with.
We hope to continue the Blogfinger tradition of introducing our readers to fine art photographers , especially those who are known for photojournalism or “street”photography and also to present, as we have done in the past, female photographers who have succeeded in so many ways that may seem unimaginable as with Gerda Taro who went to cover dangerous war zones, often with Robert Capa. She was 26 when she died in the front lines of the Spanish Civil War.
