BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN:

a. Note our new nickname is “Ocean Grovel.*” This is to recognize the pleading which we residents have to endure in dealing with the Neptune Governless and as we try to accomplish solutions to issues such as parking chaos, HPC double standards, North End outrage, condoization, tourist mob scenes, religious over-extension, and others—-
“Grovel ” because this is not a normal town where local governance is for the people, by the people, and of the people.
Concert tonight Great Auditorium at 7:30 pm For Memorial Day 5/28. Free.

Eating avocado linked to lower cardiovascular risk. From Medscape Cardiology.
In Mexico, the drug cartels have taken over the avocado industry, perhaps contributing to the rising prices. At Delicious Orchards their avocados are $3.49 each. At Wegmans, individual avos are $2.00 each, but the best bargain at Wegmans, as reported by Wegwoman Eileen is a bag of 4 for $5.49 (or $1.37 each)
Those avocados are from Colombia where most of their fields are full of poppies. The bag fruits are hard, but let them sit for 3-4 days and they will be perfect. You can slow down the ripening by putting them in the fridge. They are ready when you give them a little squeeze. Eileen says they have to “give a little.” There’s a line with multiple uses.
c . Don’t forget the Town Wide Yard Sale on June 18. See yard sale tab on the top of this home page. Sign up by email at Blogfinger@verizon.net Get some cash for you trash. So far we have 10 addresses on our list. This is enough to make for a respectable sale, but we would like many more.
Fee. [Ord. No. 14-16] Neptune ordinance They call it a “garage sale” Evidently the Neptuners are clueless about our garage deficiency. We call it a “yard sale” because most of us have some semblance of a yard.
- The fee for the issuance of an individual garage sale license shall be ten ($10.00) dollars.
- The fee for the issuance of a garage sale license for participants in a neighborhood/ regional garage sale shall be five ($5.00) dollars.
d. CDC says nine suspected cases of monkeypox have been detected in seven states–none in NJ so far.
e. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE ON MONDAY 5/30 STARTS AT 10:30 IN NEPTUNELAND. PAUSES FOR A CEREMONY AT THE BROADWAY MEMORIALS AND LANDS ON MAIN AVENUE IN OG AT ABOUT 11-11:15 AM. IT GOES DOWN MAIN AVENUE TO OCEAN AND THEN TURNS LEFT, AND THEN LEFT AGAIN AT SURF AND WINDS UP AT YOUTH TEMPLE—OOPS I’M LOST; JUST FOLLOW THE MARCHING NEPTUNE FLIERS.
f. Yesterday afternoon I saw a guy on an electrIc bike moving rapidly on our nearly deserted cloudy and cold boardwalk yesterday. These bikes and electric scooters are becoming quite popular.
I assume that they are illegal on the our boards, and the restrictions on regular bikes are also often violated. In New York City they have become a safety hazard. Do we need another ordinance?
Will the Neptuners enforce boardwalk law and other Grove ordinances ranging from parking outrages, to speeding, and to running stop signs on our dangerous maze of 153 year old streets.? Will there be “specials” to patrol our ocean front?
g. The Sunset Farmers Market in AP was supposed to open today, but no one was there at about 9 am when I drove by. This is what their Facebook page says at 10:00 am this morning (5/28/22)
RAY CHARLES. WASSUP MUSIC: What did I say??
My husband and I try to eat avocados 2-3 times a week.
