I think women do care about modesty on the part of men, and there is that line, “She made such a fine selection—my baby just cares for me.”
And it seems that he is surprised that his girl disdains expensive gifts—Is that what men think? If men were to consider this point, I hope and suspect that most men will value other qualities in the women they admire.
And, yes, Sinatra’s phrasing and clarity of speech were very special. I always liked how he would credit the composers and the arrangers of the music which he chose. —Paul
