The “bungalows” in question were built by the OGCMA starting in 1906 when Surf Ave. was cut through the park. They were seen as a better alternative to tents. By 1908, it was reported:
“To make room for an additional number of bungalows, the old storage warehouse at the corner of Central and Bath avenues, has been torn down. There are ten bungalows on this block now—five on Bath avenue and a like number on Surf avenue. With the removal of this storage house and the debris from the old corporation yard, which has been cleared up, room for several more bungalows has been acquired.” OGT (7 Mar 1908)
