The illuminated flag in the Auditorium dates from 1916 and has been rebuilt. However, the Holiness to the Lord sign may very well be the oldest surviving electric sign in the world. This was constructed for the new Auditorium in 1894. The very first electric sign appeared in 1882 for the Edison exhibit at a London trade show. NYC got its first sign in 1892. Given that outdoor signs are subject to the elements and removal with a change of occupants, that in OG may be a rare survivor.
