This hardy hibiscus perennial is to be distinguished from the tropical variety. It should be planted in the spring and then it begins to bloom in mid to late July.
The flowers will continue into the fall and then can be mulched over for the winter. Our pink beauty came back from last year.
The impressively large flowers are 8 inches in diameter and last only one day, but you can see the nascent blooms above, and this plant is loaded. That is how it continues to impress all summer long.
The image was shot with an iPhone XS. Those phones have sensors which are particularly sharp and good with colors. A photographer told us that Canon, makers of fine cameras, may be going out of business due to phones. So if you have Canon lenses, you might consider getting another body.
My opinion (Paul) is that phones are great for shooting on the fly, but a fine digital camera will produce superior results while providing manual controls.
