What would really be courageous is if Mexico (and Spain, etc.), instead of glorifying this mindless cruelty, found the decency and the will to abolish it.

This photograph is a serious work of art. It is unique and dramatic and should be appreciated as such. The subject matter is secondary. It is accompanied by the NY Philharmonic playing Carmen — a great work of musical art.
This is not the place to pontificate about animal rights. If you go to any great museum you will find art work depicting all sorts of cruel and ugly behavior. You don’t find denouncements of the subject matter. It’s all about the art.

To Joan,
Art, to be sure, but is it “courage?”
P.S. If we can’t pontificate about animal rights on Blogfinger, what can we pontificate about?
