When was the last time that the Township sponsored a musical event like this in one of Ocean Grove’s parks? They never do because it is the sort of event that a small town should have. In Shark River Hills it is like a small town. But in OG,we are not recognized the same way that other parts of town are.
Our lifestyles are consumed by the the CMA and all its events. And what kind of events do the Chamber of Commercials offer in OG? How many mega-events do they have in Shark River Hills?
These two parts of town have families and residents and renters, but the lifestyles that are promoted by official OG are those for tourists. Granted, they don’t have an ocean in SRH, but they have a river and a marina. And they have a charter boat that can take your family out for some fishing. then the captain will fillet your catch, and you can take it home for dinner.
And the CMA says that OG needs to do more to attract Neputners to our part of town if we want to be “fair.” But the CMA has little interest in those of us who live in small town America, ie Ocean Grove, the residential community, and the Township seems to think that they don’t need to do much because the CMA will make sure that we are happy. What bizarre situation!

d. Beachwood and Barnegat light beaches are the most polluted. Also: “Beaches in Monmouth and Ocean counties also had tests indicating potentially unsafe swimming conditions. The beaches that had two or more unsafe swimming tests in 2019 were found in Sea Girt, Brick, Harvey Cedars’ Bay Front beach, Surf City, Belmar, Long Branch, Highlands, Neptune, Sea Bright and Seaside Park.” (From the APP)
d. Coaster causes coma in its readers with yet another article about the planned CMA Parking Study to be finished by autumn. Pres. Michael Badger continues his undocumented claims and attention-grabbing interviews regarding the study.
Here are a few from this weeks Coastericans: (All quotes are either with quotation marks by Pres. Badger or of the reporter Don Stine’s efforts to repeat what Badger said in his interview)
“OG is still saturated with parking this year, and the study should be just as viable as if the Covid-19 pandemic were not here.” What?
“The goal of the study is to provide recommendations for the development of potential parking programs and policies of the magnitude to meet the diverse parking requirements of Ocean Grove.” Really?
Badger said, “There is less parking now at the northern end of OG because Asbury Park’s bars and restaurants are not open except for outside dining. People would park in OG and walk into Asbury to avoid paying to park in the city. Huh?
“However, those unused parking spaces are now occupied by the cars of residents with summer homes who have decided to shelter in place in OG.” Pres. Badger, do you have any evidence of what you just alleged? Are you still talking about the North End?

New York driver looks for parking in the Grove. Pres.Badger complains of them and Asbury knuckleheads.
He also said, “The parking there is filled to capacity They came down early this year and have stayed here. The number of New York license plates in OG is through the roof”
Mr. Badger, can you document “through the roof?” Did you hear of the word “scapegoat?”
Pres. Badger, if the North End has such parking issues that you need to do unsubstantiated micro-analyses, then why in the world are you building that huge North End project?
He also alleges that there are more summer renters than before now and there are more people on the beach now, and “we have a highly congested community right now.” (Imagine how it would be if Badger and the Chamber were doing their mega-events all summer plus the hundreds of cancelled CMA events?)
Finally, despite all his alleged changes this season, he says, “The study should still provide representative data that will be applicable in later years.”
We will be looking forward to the study, but please M. Badger, no more interviews until the study arrives, and when it does, please explain to all of us in town why you feel responsible for all that and why you are willing to pay for it.
And also, since you are going public with this thing, how much will it cost?
e. Sunday July 25 begins Camp Meeting Week.
