Here is a link about Spring Hope, a place off Route 95 in North Carolina, whose settlers had high hopes, but eventually a large part was abandoned.

Yet it is still alive today, and it is making a comeback as an example of small town America.    It sponsors the National Pumpkin Festival.

The photograph suggests that sometimes beauty can be found left behind when men move on.
