DON JULIAN AND THE MEADOWLARKS:
Photography note: Tripods are often passé these days because new cameras have motion suppression technology to counter camera shake. In addition the high ASA settings currently available allow the photographer to shoot with fast shutter speeds, making motion blur less risky. And, telephoto lenses are now smaller and less heavy.
On the other hand, the tripod is helpful for still lifes while the artist fusses with the settings.
If you go to Ding Darling refuge now, you will see nature photographers hand holding long lenses–often no tripod needed.
This bird photography group would nevertheless stand together to get the same shot while a rare bird stays still in a tree as if it’s a celebrity being followed by paparazzi. They probably belong to a bird photography seminar.—-PG
