JW: Actually that stop stop sign in the photo was not on a street. It was a station along a driveway for installing EZ Pass sort of devices.
You are right about the risks of stop signs around the Grove. It is true that one needs to be very careful in the Grove, especially on a bicycle, but the cars often experience close calls on our treacherous village streets where stop signs are unpredictably all over the place, as if the stop sign bird dropped a load onto our town.
And there is also danger when trying to emerge from a stop signed side street before pulling out onto Main Avenue.
But there is another dangerous place nearby, and that is the stretch of Memorial Drive from Rt. 33 to Sunset Avenue in Asbury. The stop signs there are crazy and VERY dangerous. Stay alert, everyone.
Our family has experienced bad accidents in the area around the Grove due to people running stop signs. –Paul @Blogfinger
Is the “stop bar” in FL similar to the painted white stripes near the stop signs on OG streets?
Next time we need a stop stripe (or whatever it’s called) repainted I’ll use the “stop bar” description in my request. Maybe it will prompt Neptune Township to pay attention. It took over two years and a number of requests to get a stripe repainted on the intersection of Cookman and Delaware.
Before that, too many close calls and a few accidents from drivers failing to stop at the stop signs.
