The Airstream all-aluminum RV’s were designed by Hawley Bowlus in the 1930’s in California to meet the need for “leisure travel.” Production was reduced during the depression and then during WWII. But today they are still made and are very collectible. The interiors are are just as interesting as the exteriors.
The rounded Airstreams were popular all over the country and then later in Europe. Since 1979 they have been manufactured in Ohio, and about 3,700 are made each year. This one was spotted on the Sawgrass Expressway near the east coast of Florida.
Eileen got this shot through her passenger window while I maneuvered to get the rear view. (of the trailer, not her.)
