People in southwest Florida complain about being cold as soon as the temperature drops below 65 degrees. It’s not unusual for the morning temps in January to be about 65 degrees, but then the temp. goes up to 70-80 degrees by late morning.
This past week it has been unusually low here, but 45 in the morning going to 65-75 in the afternoon is not worth complaining about if one is from Jersey. However, the locals seem to think that the freezing point for them is not 32 degrees, but rather 50 degrees. So they love to complain about being frozen.
Did you ever call someone in Florida during the winter when the conversation does not turn to the weather?
This morning it was pleasant and sunny, but with the temperature 45 degrees at 7 am, Floridians get nervous. They are impressed when someone calls them from Indiana reporting a -7 degree temp, but I went to the beach where the temp was 48 degrees at 9 am. Nobody home! (Except for that courageous woman above.)
However, we know that it is truly frozen in Jersey, so we are grateful for those 48 degrees, which we know will quickly increase by mid-day.
In February, mobs of people will show up here causing crowds and traffic. The temperature will be 80 degrees on average. Then, in March to April, the caravans will be heading north from the southern regions, clogging Rt. 95, but at least we are on the right side of the American border.

Was just in southeast Fla for a few weeks. Beautiful stretch of weather. Coolest day was 69 when I was in Ft. Lauderdale. Then it was in the upper 50’s/low 60’s at night and 70’s in the days. 80 when I left Miami Beach a few days ago.
