The center piece of Fireman’s Park, a fire bell, on Main Avenue is surrounded by a locked iron fence with spikes on top (what’s next? barbed wire?) and by shrubs with dangerous needles. (?Needle Park.) Blogfinger photo June 1, 2018. ©
Is Firemen’s Park a public park or not? Everyone goes there including residents, kids, tourists, picnickers, choir festival visitors, tree climbers, A. Parkers getting to the action, and more.
Why is that center area locked down? The bell area should be open to the public so that we all can enjoy it. Let the kids come in and touch the bell.
A child can get closer to the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia than the Firemen’s Bell in the Grove.
There is no good reason to prevent the public from walking up to our bell and touching it. All those evil barriers should be removed to allow kids and adults to run or walk around the bell. And then maybe someone would have picked up that tribute to the dead American military after Memorial Day 2018.

Firemen’s Park is a privately owned public park.
The owner is the CMA.
I believe the fence is an unnecessary hazard.
The bell was vandalized several times. There was an eagle on the top of the bell that was broken off.
