L’shana Tovah (a New Year’s wish to all our Jewish readers.) It means,
“May you have a joyful year and be inscribed in the book of life.” It would be appropriate for non-Jews and Jews alike to wish their Jewish friends, relatives and neighbors a “l’shana tovah.”
This holiday marks the start of a new year—-5777. Jews go the synagogue where the rams horn (shofar) is blown to usher in a new year filled with peace, prosperity and blessing.

DEBBIE FRIEDMAN: Debbie reviews some of the traditions. She mentions tashlikh, a ritual where bread crumbs are tossed into a body of water. The Ocean Grove Chavurah (fellowship) reenacted this ritual last weekend at Deal Lake.
