I have close to 5 feet of packed snow on my sidewalk as a result of the plowing and drifts. I am the last house in the flare, so my porch is close to the sidewalk. The only place to put the snow is back on the street; and that is after I start chiseling.
Doug: You are correct. Even Randy Bishop was against this one, but in the end, Ken and the Home Owners prevailed.
Now that it’s “on the books” it can always be used as “selective enforcement”.
Will they enforce it against the derelict houses like 80 Main? Or just the easy marks!
What happens when township plows street snow up onto property making it impossible to shovel out 4 feet of packed snow?
Ocean Grove is different than most towns:
The Township has no jurisdiction over the sidewalks, just the roadway. The sidewalks are private property owned by the OGCMA. The question is, who gets the ticket?
Can the Township issue a summons to one property owner (that’s you or me) for failure to shovel another property owner’s sidewalk (that’s the OGCMA,) and who shovels the snow on Lake Ave and the Boardwalk?.
The answer is the Township. They claim they are both municipal streets.
I have removed the snow from my walkway and two neighbors’ twice thus far, however I am nearly out of space to toss the snow. The one plow pass down my street resulted in three feet of snow being pushed against the cars on one side of the street…can’t wait until the next pass.
