“A different issue, but related to neighborly courtesy:
“Mary’s Place: I am a neighbor living next door to the new Mary’s Place site. I am a breast cancer survivor (so far), and therefore supportive of any place that is going to help those who are in need of recovery. However, as a resident of Ocean Grove, a tax payer, and a neighbor, I would like to know:
“What this building will look like, who will be living there, and especially what is the expected date for the construction to be done.
“I wonder if the sponsors of this project have thought about how neighbors will be affected by this? The construction is underway and our building next door is shaking! Dirt is being piled on the side of our entrance. What comes next?
“Some information will be appreciated.”

Grover, Sorry, I remembered white! The picture above is what is at their site now!! The HPC color enforcement does seem to be uneven, there are a lot of houses painted some strange colors in town, even real Victorians! Same with the grass stips, I have heard of people getting notices for growing flowers in the strip, but a house on New York just put in new sidewalks and curbs with no grass strip and even ripped out the old stone curbing, go figure!
@ Doug – White? Thought that was an unacceptable color for victorian Ocean Grove! I couldn’t repaint my white house white. Had to go with victorian colors, even though it is not victorian in any way.

Here’s a link to the Marys Place site. https://www.marysplacebythesea.org/
The tabs on the link show what the building will look like, services offered, and to whom they will be offered
I was at the HPC hearing for Mary’s Place, the drawings showed an attractive white building with a full width porch, very Victorian looking. Looked mostly like a B&B. As always, the devil is in the details, hopefully it wont be vinyl box when done. Their current house on Broadway is very nice.
Nydia. Our recent coverage of Mary’s Place was focused on zoning questions, but some of the topics that you raise came up as well. At least one of the neighbors brought it up here. If you see the search bar at the top of this page, just type in “Mary’s Place.”
The officials who run Mary’s Place denied that there would be any problems related to parking, deliveries, congestion, etc.
At the Neptune Township Committee meeting that I attended where a discussion about this was raised from the audience, Committeemen reassured the citizen who asked that there would be no such issues.
The building, which will take up two lots, has a Victorian design.
Perhaps the Mary’s Place people will respond here to your concerns.
