Blogfinger garbage pickup poll

September 23, 2014 by Blogfinger

At the September 22, 2014 meeting of the Township Committee an Ocean Grover suggested that garbage pickups be reduced from two per week to one.  The idea is that the recycling program is so effective that money could be saved by changing the pick up frequency.  What do you think?

On garbage pickup question suggest third choice: KEEP 2X/week May thru Sept.
    Thanks.

Can we move pickup back to Monday? Wouldn’t it make sense in a shore town to have it on Mondays when people generally leave for the week? Today we have people putting out garbage on Sunday and leaving it there until Tuesday.

“I must point out that this poll is failed and can be tricked.”

    Editor’s Note:
We have pointed out many times that our polls are not scientific. They are useful to get a feel for public opinion. They work better if the issue does not have strong advocates, because, as Frank points out, the ballot box can be digitally stuffed. But we are not going to post Frank’s revelations on how to do that.

Regarding our Mary’s poll, all we can say is that many people are concerned about this project.

If the Mary’s people thought that no one would be skeptical of their plans, they now know that isn’t true. This poll attracted the most votes in our history of BF polling.

All I know is that the squirrels would miss that extra day if you reduced it to one.
Seriously the inns, hotels and restaurants must have that two day pickup.
Cannot allow stinky debris to pile up.

At Township Committee “workshops” before regular meetings, time is spent considering new “projects/expenses.” Any savings on a once a week garbage pickup would disappear. It would be helpful if “workshops” spent at least half the time discussing cost-saving efforts.

If I vote yes will my taxes go down?

I am so glad you added the ‘got to be kidding” option!! Some of us have larger households and need twice a week pick up. Recycling pick up once a week works due to the 2 large green cns that everyone got from the township.
