If the water level in the lake is just even with the bottom of the street drain pipe that empties into the lake, does the water exit slower then if the lake was drained and left at a level 3 ft lower then the exit street pipe that is now 3ft above the water level of the lake?

Thanks to Maggie for the lovely comment about the Sea Spray Inn. We were lucky enough not to experience flood waters Saturday night, but we are awake and alert anytime it rains in an attempt to mitigate water damage to our home and property.

We sincerely hope the Township is seriously exploring options to end the flooding of our street and our home.
PS: Maggie we miss you and hope to see you again soon!

They need to build a separate, additional piping system, orginating at this area of Broadway, and terminating at the lake. Or they need the separate system to start “upstreet”, perhaps around Main Ave. and Central, that would relieve the volume of water that now flows over to the Broadway pipes.

The current system was obviously not enginnered to handle the volume of water that happens in a typical summer downpour (seems pretty suprising that they would underbuild the system so significantly given they went to all that work a couple of years ago).

We have learned that the neighbors have approached Neptune Township about plans to rectify the problem. The Township has requested more information, so the neighbors, with the help of the HOA, will be sending a questionnaire out to those who live in that south end flood area. Then the HOA will make a presentation to the Township. How is an engineering solution going to come out of those questionnaires?

When I read this I can’t help but think of Maryellen and Eric who own the sea Spray Inn on Broadway. They are such lovely people and staying at their Inn has always been a wonderful experience….they are so hardworking and aim to please their guests….I feel so bad that this keeps happening to them….and all the homeowners in this area….they all need this problem addressed as soon as possible…Margaret Zuidema
