TCos has sent us the email addresses for all five members of the Neptune Township Committee. This can be an alternative way to communicate with your elected representatives in Neptune. If you have issues, let them know. You can also call them at the Municipal Building 732 988 5200. (extensions are listed below).
Don’t wait for someone or some organization to do it for you. You can also post questions to them via Blogfinger and hope that they will see it and respond via a comment, but don’t count on that. You can also go to the Committee Meeting, wait until everything is over, and then go to the microphone for 5 minutes.
And, if you do any of that, and you think it is appropriate, share what you learned with Blogfinger, and we will share it with your neighbors. Transparent government and open information is the American way.
The best bet is to contact them directly.

Same info we’ve heard before. When I see something actually start, I will be more impressed.
I have called JCPL and sometimes the lights do get fixed. I just wondered if its over 6 months if maybe the township might call.
I received an email back from Mr. Houghtaling the next day after emailing him.. The Wesley lake project will be “starting soon on a new retaining wall” The repairs will “go as far as the grant money will go” Also they” will be removing silt from the lake very soon”
As for the lights on Broadway (Isn’t that a song?) they have “put out to bid new light fixtures and hope to start soon.” “Fletcher lake will have work done as well.”
I was impressed to hear back so soon. I guess we’ll wait and see.
I don’t believe there is much that the Township can do about streetlight outages outside of contacting the power company. You can do this as well, online. I did it a few years ago for a streetlight near my house and it was fixed pretty soon afterwards. You can use this link to report the outage…make sure you provide all of the information required and choose Jersey Central Power & Light in the power company drop-down:

Thank you Paul. I will be emailing about the light that is out at the end of
Broadway that I’ve called about numerous times— and the Lake issues.
Just e mailed Mr. Houghtaling..that the corner of B’way/Pa. in OG is STILL dark with no street light after 2 years..will be interesting to see if I get any results. Thanks for contacts for all officials.
Thank you for this info. A great service.
