We are in the midst of still dealing with Sandy. It’s necessary to keep reminding everyone of what we experienced. So far, government has failed us with our situation, so this may help with fundraising.  If you have a memory of Sandy in the Grove, please share, but keep it brief.     Thanks,   Paul

MB: History will be well served by the Neptune and State projects to collect documentation of what occurred. My goal, as stated, is to continue reminding everyone of the storm in the Grove. It was such a unique event; and it continues to haunt us and will do so for a long time.

Photography is a good way of recording what happened and reminding everyone to contribute something to the Together fund. We also welcome brief anecdotes.

If you send pictures to Blogfinger, just send one or two of your best images at a time by email to Blogfinger@verizon.net. Thanks, Paul

Paul, you’re a little ahead of the curve here! I had been working with Marian the Librarian at the Neptune Library to begin collecting Sandy stories from all neighborhoods and emergency personnel to keep as an historic document and also to assess the full extent of Sandy damage and to help with FEMA and insurance problems.

In the midst of this last week, we received notification from the state that they were embarking on the same project, only they are encompassing all affected counties. We are very happy to let the state pick up the tab for this! In the coming weeks, we will be distributing a a link to a website where people can enter their Sandy survival stories.

In the meantime, please share your story here with Blogfinger for more immediate uses. I’ll get the web address for the state Sandy Stories project as soon as Ocean Grove and Neptune are officially entered as participants. There are a lot of people, both experts and amateurs, who are eagerly awaiting survivors’ accounts of the storm. And remember, you don’t need to have been flooded out or have had a tree fall on your house to participate; the stories of people who went for weeks without power and how they went about their lives.
