something positive: during the days long power outage, became a lot closer with my neighbors on mt. tabor. we had pot luck dinners(&wine. perhaps lots) by candlelight almost every night and they’re actually some of my best memories in the Grove before moving out a few months ago.
After we all lost power, a group of twelve neighbors gathered at our house with various food items from their refrigerator. We heated everything on our gas top stove. We set up candles on the dining room table and enjoyed a neighborhood buffet dinner.
During the night after landfall we were in our second floor bedroom.We live seven blocks back from the beach. The house shook. That never happened before. It was scary.
On ‘high ground’ here. Thought the world was ending when the roof section blew off the Auditorium and crashed. Seeing Wesley Lake cresting with surfable waves was an awesome sight as well.
It was surprising how many people on Mt. Hermon Way stayed in the Grove, but our North End neighborhood was not part of a mandatory evacuation order.
