The tidal surge went straight through the first floor of the building. It continued across the boardwalk, displaced the lifeguard stands and storage lockers stored on the North End lot and filled the old swimming pool with sand, debris and water.
Thanks Paul. I stopped by early this morning to bring childrens jackets, scarves, hats and gloves that I bought, and they said they themselves weren’t prepared for this weather (From San Diego). They were at the east end by a black trailer, handing out baby needs and other necessities. Maybe someone already got them covered (in a manner of speaking!). Thank you for the reply. 🙂
Sherry: I went down there and couldn’t find those California dreamin’ guys. I did find a Christian relief group (see our post) who weren’t cold. They were from Old Bridge, NJ. They took the clothes and promised to find a cold person. Paul @Blogfinger
Can’t all this wood be useful to someone’s fireplace? All the trees that are being cut down should be coraled to one place for people to make use of. 🙁
If anyone can help the 5 men working the relief center on Ocean Pathway they themselves need gloves, hats, scarves, warm jackets. They are from San Diego and not used to this cold. They were out there very early this morning and they were very cold. Thank you.
I guess that is the Homestead. I know it’s not the Homestead anymore, but it played a big part in my childhood visits to OG. I also worked there the summer of ’63 when I was 16. What a wonderful summer that was! I have of course visited since, even ate there at one of the reincarnations of the restaurant. I have many happy memories of the Homestead and the people of OG that I met that summer. I am glad to have discovered this blog because of Sandy and will continue to follow it for more news of OG from here in Atlanta.
I remember when this building was a Perkins in the 1980s.

Was that the now empty Dorians? And what of Breezily Amused, any news on how Barbara fared? Or the other shoes on the north end?

Will love Ocean Grove always! No matter what!

Is that the old restaurant?
EDITOR’S NOTE: Yes it is—rear view.
