Thank you! Thank you from Chicago! My father ken is in Mountainside, also with no power and unable to use a computer. You have been his lifeline for OG information. I check Blogfinger several times a day and call from Chicago to update him about OG. We really appreciate all you are doing to keep the community informed!
Has anyone seen or heard from Phyllis Quinn. She lives on Embury Avenue. Please tell her to contact Tammy. I have been trying to contact her to no avail.
Here in Southern California your site is the only reliable source of information about OG’s situation. Thanks for trying so hard to keep the blog’s info current.
Let’s get FEMA to fix the lake wall!!
If any of you want to reply to Marjorie, just let us know (Blogfinger@verizon.net) and we will forward it to her email. Paul
I am coming down from Westchester tomorrow -if anyone has a specific critical need, I would be happy to bring it with me to the Grove. (more open functional stores here) Wish I could bring power… I’ll do my best to get it for you. leave message here and I will check before leaving tomorrow
The mayor has warned us all about scams. Always ask for ID from anyone who knocks on your door.
UPS delivered today in OG. I got coffee beans that I can’t grind.
I’m an OG resident in Langhorne, PA (~50 miles west of OG); there is gas and no wait here. (<2hrs here/back).There may be others closer but outside Monmouth/Ocean counties that won't mean 4+ hr lines, etc.
still wondering if anyone knows about mail delivery? Or UPS?
I would like to thank you for all the OG updates. My husband is there since we live on Mt Tabor but I am in VA for school. Your updates have kept me informed since it is hard to reach him.
On a side note: I heard from a neighbor friend that robbers were dressing as JCPL workers to gain access to homes to loot them. Everyone please be careful. Ask to see ID.
Praying for my friends and neighbors in OG and thru the shore.
Yes, writing from Seattle. Thinking and worrying and praying for you all. To repeat Mpls above: crews and equipment are being sent your way.

Please know you are not alone!
Atlantic City casinos are open. ? A place to stay.
I would like to send my sympathy to all who have been effected by Sandy. Please let my relatives John & Ellen Mcfadyen & family of 112 Broadway Ocean Grove that we have been trying to contact them. They are in our thoughts & we wish all of you a speedy return to normal living.
HI–Just a small note that part of the wall along Wesley Lake has fallen into the lake at Beach Ave
Our heartfelt thanks for everyone writing and taking pictures of the storm damage. We’ve sent your information cross-country and back again to elderly relatives who own property in Ocean Grove and have been unable to get there from their own affected town in New Jersey. We particularly appreciate your coverage of the South End of Ocean Grove (the playground and Fletcher Lake), and how you’ve taken photos of various areas of the Grove to give us a broader picture of Sandy’s impact.
There are friends of ours here in Ohio who have identified their stricken homes elsewhere on the Jersey Shore via aerial photos. Here in the Midwest, everyone knows someone personally affected by the tragedy, and there are many relief efforts coming to help. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. But we did want to say thank you for the valuable info you’re providing.
We are from PA and have been coming to OG off and on for the past 30 years.(House by the Sea!) We love it and it’s the only place we would even consider going to the beach! We love going to the tabernacle Sunday mornings and all the services in the boardwalk pavilion. It feels safe in God’s Square Mile!
I was so thankful to find this blog while I was searching for info on the aftermath of hurricane Sandy on OG. We are saddened for all that you have gone through. Thank you so much for all the photos and info about what’s happening. I feel connected and am so glad to be able to keep up with how things are progressing till our visit again next summer. Wish we could be there on Sat. to help with the clean up.
God bless you all
A friend said to let you know I found a working Bank of America ATM in Shrewsbury on Shrewsbury ave and sycamore in case anyone needs to access money. It’s a mobile ATM in the parking lot. You’re able to make all normal ATM transactions like deposits for Bank of America Customers.
What a life line for your community! I’m writing from Minnesota to let you know we are thinking of you and trying to do our part in the midwest to help. You may not know this but alot of states are sending relief and electrical trucks your way! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Good Luck
As others have already noted, your photos, updates, and in-depth reporting have all been exceptional. If there is a Pulitzer for internet blog reporting, Blogfinger WINS!
Do you guys have any update/timeline on the meeting is taking place at Bishop Janes Tabernacle to update OG residents?
Thank you for your news updates. I grew up in nearby Wanamassa. My family bought a bench in honor of my father near the fishing pier. It is sad to see the destruction of the fishing pier but I am buoyed by the lovely Victorian homes that remain.
Do you miss coffee? My neighbor taught me this. I take my reusable coffee filter and sit it on a splash guard screen for frying pans which sits over a sauce pan. I then slowly pour boiling water through the coffee filled filter. Not exactly a mocha latte, but better then nothing. Closing all the shades at night and then opening them at sunrise is already second nature. We gossip now about who has power and who doesn’t. Every neighbor I know has had at least one flat tire. I keep telling myself, one day things will be normal. Or at least OG normal.
112 Broadway holds a place in my heart. I would visit my Aunt & Uncle there, they were fab. My cousin Ellen & family live there now & I hope all is well for Ellen, John & family. Keep your spirits high, in Scotland we are praying for you & better days.
Love & Kisses
Elixabeth. xx
You guys are great! Your loyalty to OG is quite evident. I really appreciate how you’ve made up-to-date blogs throughout this disaster. I am a long time OGF homeowner; I own a house on Broadway. For health reasons, I am currently in FL and totally dependent on getting news from the media. NYC gets all of the media attention! It is virtually impossible to get any news about OG from the major media. Again, Thank You for your great site! May God Richly Bless You and your family and everyone affected by the cruel storm. Despite how bad things are in OG, things could have been a lot worse. I Praise the Lord for that!

Two ideas for gas if you head west on I-195:
Exit 16 Jackson/Cream Ridge WaWa (lines were not that long this morning).
Exit 5A Hamilton/Route 130 Take 130 South about 1 mile. Gas station on right. Have been there twice and less than 10 minute wait each time.
Would love to help from afar. I’d love any suggestions on what groups to donate to (fire dep’t? Barbaric Bean to keep the coffee flowing?). Any suggetions would be appreciated.
Or UPS?
Are we able to send care packages into OG yet? Is the USPS delivering?
We found that our summer home, on the first block, had almost 5 feet of water in the basement. Mostly draining off. It covered breaker panels, water heater etc. It is very important that breakers be turned off before power is restored or there is a risk of shorting.
Thank you for keeping everyone informed — you are doing an EXCELLENT job and the pictures although heartbreaking are amazing!
Hope u guys are all ok.
Paul…how did you make out?
We did not do well. 4 feet of water in our house, our son’s house and my sister’s house. All ruined including my new car.
We’re thanking god for our blessings. Family and friends. And we’re all safe.
Be safe my friends.
HI–Just a small note. That part of the wall along Wesley Lake has fallen into the lake at Beach Avenue.
Reading your posts daily – I have summered in OG for years, and I am heartbroken. I know that it is God’s Square mile and ever thankful for your work, the citizens of OG and the OGCMA for your efforts. I would be there Saturday, but the logistics and threat of NOT being able to get gas to return deem it a bad idea, for now.
Much love from NYC
Your reporting on Sandy and its aftermath is sharp and much appreciated. You got me hooked, I’ll be reading this blog long after the mess is cleared and repairs are complete.
Just wanted to Thank You for the pictures of Ocean Grove. As of now you are the only place I have been able to find any info on my home away from home. Ocean Grove holds a special place in my heart. I am so sorry for the trouble you are all going thru right now.
