Neptune police are warning Ocean Grovers to watch out for telephone scams.
According to reports, the police say, “The caller states that a family member was involved in a motor vehicle accident out of town or out of the country. The caller requests that money be wired to an account immediately so the family member can avoid prosecution.”
if you get such a call, police say, don’t provide any information. If you think the call might be legitimate, ask for a call-back number and contact name so you can check it out.
Police have also notified our local Neighborhood Watch coordinators of two more house break-ins in Ocean Grove — one in the 40 block of Broadway and the other in the 20 block of Embury Avenue. Items were taken from the Broadway house but not from the house on Embury.
A panhandler was reported in the area of St. Paul’s Church. Police said the panhandler was identified and issued a summons.
And finally, police received a report of criminal mischief to a house in the area of the 100 block of Heck Avenue.
