Thank the Lord that the founders of Ocean Grove sought the highest ground for their encampment, it has saved many lives since.
Debbie – I can’t confirm this 100% but I’m almost certain – as close to 100% that I can be – that your mom’s bench is still in the same place you left it. I was there today – boardwalk is fine and takes a lot to move those benches.

Hi Paul,
This July we had a memorial bench installed on the Ocean Grove boardwalk in memory of my Mom, Doris Hamilton, who spent many years in Ocean Grove at Manor by the Sea. Her four children purchased the bench from Camp Meeting Association, and it was placed near the end of Broadway, on the ocean side, very close to the southern end of the boardwalk.
We all dearly love Ocean Grove, although three of us live elsewhere, with our youngest sister living in Wanamassa. Today I take solace from your posted photos that it is possible mom’s bench survived the storm in its place, which we carefully selected for its views of the dunes and the ocean. And I am elated that it seems Ocean Grove did not take major damage.
Just wanted to thank you sincerely for these photos that provided comfort and joy on a day full of uncertainty and sadness for many in New Jersey and elsewhere!
