   They do face the wind, but why? I wonder if it’s because if they faced away from the wind, the wind would ruffle their feathers the wrong way.

   I don’t know how many times I’ve seen this on the beach — a bunch of gulls facing the same direction except for one individualist turned the opposite way. I would love to know why all those birds face the same way, and why there’s always that one who won’t get with the program. Any ornithologists out there who can answer this pressing question?
