The Blizzard of 1969 in New York City and the End of Hanukkah 2014 in Ocean Grove.

December 23, 2014 by Blogfinger

A word about Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and a blizzard in Central Park from 1969. We posted this originally in 2012; then in 2014; and now—I guess it is a December tradition on Blogfinger.

OG Jaimie: Maybe your parents found something to do while being snowed in.

I wasn’t yet living, but my parents recall the blame Lindsay caught for that storm. My guess is that no city exec dealing with a budget in a city that rarely suffered a halting blizzard would have fared any better, regardless of party. Lindsay was already hated by conservative Republicans for other reasons but having to leave the party because he didn’t spend enough of very limited government money in a city that isn”t a snow target like, say Buffalo, is ironic. Methinks other stances beyond snow made Lindsay flee his party.
