Shore Contest: This white mansion is in Belmar. “Silver Fox”is the winner. This re-post is from Feb. 2023.

We will contact “Silver Fox” (who guessed Belmar and also has the best hair of all  our contestants,) and he can collect his Jack Bredin signed print from the artist himself in Ocean Grove.   This win by “Silver Fox” came to mind after he won our movie contest on 7/15/25.

Eileen and I  were driving around in Belmar, a place where the most beautiful objets d’art are babes in bikinis when we turned a corner and came upon this beauty.

I thought this house was striking.  Eileen was less enthused.    The problem with Belmar is that there is a mix of great houses and crummy ones.  The same is true of many Shore towns such as B. Beach and even A. Park

But Ocean Grove stands out among the rest because its architecture is consistent (sort-of) and then there is Deal, Avon-By-The Sea (which stands out for its hyphens.) and Spring Lake.

But OG is unique because of the historical consistency of most of its homes.  As Ben Franklin once said when he once came here for the Doo Wops, “Ocean Grove can win on architecture, if it can keep it.”

And yet, OG houses have been seen in many movies Including Boardwalk Empire, According to Greta, and Stardust Memories.    I doubt that Belmar has achieved similar cinematic greatness.
