The Hub is the little store at Auditorium Square, right across from the Beersheba Fountain. These boy and girls were selling min-LED flashlights, watermelon lip balm, fans to cool off in the GA, books about the GA, hand sanitizers, aprons emblazoned with a pic of the Great Auditorium, and notebooks. Many of these items have the CMA or Hub logos. And they have other items to show you if you visit the little shop of Hubsters where Deb is the Chairman of the Board.
I got this shot while standing in line to show my ticket. Do you think these three were giving me the business? Being in that line lets you talk to all sorts of people. Fred Ohleth, the king of water sellers, was there with his band of brothers and sisters. He told me that during the Bridgefest rock and roll concert Friday night his people sold 1,000 hot dogs to hungry teen agers. Fred’s hot dogs are special, and kids know hot dogs. Try one next time you visit the GA for a show.
Jim Taylor was also selling water. I hadn’t seen him there before. I said,” Hi Jim. When did you start volunteering here?” “Three years ago.” he said. How embarrassing. But Jim’s a good sport. He said that people hear his name and think he might be the other James Taylor. I asked him to sing a few bars of “Something in the way she moves.” But Sue was there, and Jim went back to his sales job.
