I can’t agree with you more. If you go on line and see what they want to do, you would see they include in their gross property half the lake and the walkway that happens to be Green Acres.
Their second problem is now that they are in a flood zone—no more underground parking.
Thanks Oldtimer and Ken for your comments. I worked at the Homestead one memorable summer when I was 16 – many, many years ago. So much fun!! I discovered this blog in the aftermath of Sandy and do check it periodically. I live in Atlanta now and don’t have the opportunity to visit OG, but this blog brings back fond childhood memories when I used to visit for Camp Meeting with my parents and grandparents.
The North End Hotel was demolished many years ago. Now there is a large vacant lot (and no bridge or tunnel). They want to “redevelop” the spot into a cramed megaopolis of hotel/condos/houses/underground parking/shops that many are concerned is out of character with the surrounding neighborhood. This is an unfolding story , so you should read this blog periodically to stay on top of this evolving story.
Wow! Looks like the old Homestead Restaurant is sitting in the middle of the beach instead of on the boardwalk. Was the North End Hotel destroyed in Sandy, or was that gone a long time ago? I seem to remember that there was a bridge across the boardwalk connecting the hotel and a banquet room. I attended the Usher’s Banquet there.

Ocean Grove: a really cute small town at the Jersey Shore.

The ” (long gone)Old Homestead Restaurant’s” building is indeed sitting in the beach.
