There’ll Be Some Changes Made @Blogfinger

October 1, 2014 by Blogfinger

for T shirt

On the occasion of our fifth anniversary and our 2 millionth visit, we are announcing some changes at Blogfinger.

We will retain our focus on Ocean Grove—our fascinating and beautiful town, especially the quirky and unusual stories that we enjoy.

We will not, however, cover local politics or try to post all the hard news in town.

Blogfinger will continue its popular themes which include photography, music, poetry, Wassup, Just Wondering, Neighborhood Watch, gardening with Miss Pegi, OG history, Asbury Connection, Jersey Shore gallery, contests and polls, recipes, movie and restaurant reviews, and medical articles.

We will continue to report on grand themes such as our ongoing coverage of the OG Boardwalk/FEMA saga, our interest in the town’s curious and evolving demographics, and the forces at play in retaining (or not) Ocean Grove as a historic treasure.

Comments are welcomed, and we encourage more of you to use your real names. It gives your opinions more credibility.

Thank you for your support and encouragement over the last five years.

Paul

Bythesea: You can say something in “just wondering”. Or a letter to the editor, but no bomb throwing and subject to our approval. And no obscene emoticons

Paul — Maybe once in a while you can just introduce a controversial/political topic with a one liner (no reporting) and then get out of the way and let the comments come. Your Blog represents the only real forum that we have to discuss topics and share information (or sometimes misinformation) Of course it would be caveat lector. Some topics need to be discussed.

I love BLOGFINGER . It is my ” go to ” site everyday.

I find it a wonderful way to learn about Ocean Grove and the people who live there.

The music is interesting & eclectic, where else can one listen to such variety? I’m a gardener and a cook, so I especially enjoy and learn from those articles. The piéce de resistance is the photograhy. It is like going to an upscale gallery without leaving home!

    Keep on blogging, Paul

    Hey Finger
Hard news smard news. You keep on blogging and fans will keep on reading. Blogfinger is an amazing site! Read it, listen to it, or watch it… All good stuff. Thanks for all the hard work.

So enjoy what you do Paul!! Thank you for.keeping us informed!!

Editor’s Note: Thanks Liz. I’m sorry I had to lop off some of your exclamation marks. We try to maintain some punctuation decorum here, but just want you to know that I have placed those decapitated exclamation marks in my digital scrapbook.

ExGrover: I am very appreciative of this comment and others with similar sentiments. I plan to continue with feature articles and I may discover that an occasional news story will capture my imagination. I just don’t want people to count on me as if I were a newspaper.

I want to thank all the commenters–we had nearly 14,000 comments (and counting) since our founding in mid-2009, and we want that to continue (following the rules above.)

We need information sharing now more than ever, and we welcome offerings from poets, writers, citizens, photographers and other artists. Just send those items via e-mail to blogfinger@verizon.net.

Photographers: Please no sunsets or sunrises. Only high quality images will be accepted, but don’t let that keep you from trying. The photographer that I reject the most is me. I will accept photographs taken anywhere in the world, not just from around here. Our photography posts will be more diverse.

There may be times when I do not post anything due to traveling or other reasons.

    Thank you all, Paul

This is really a shame, I don’t know where else to go for honest discussion about political issues facing OG and its neighboring towns. The Coaster is usually later on the uptake than Blogfinger, and TriCity isn’t focused south of Asbury. I don’t, however, believe that Blogfinger (not his real name :)) was broken by the powerful.

I can see not wanting to be in the fray; it must be so much work when so many people are focused on something like Mary’s Place, or metered parking, or the danger of deteriorating buildings, but the discussions are illuminating and important. It is a modern town square.

I will miss the discussions of hot, controversial topics; it’s the reason that I check the blog almost every day. I won’t accept the invitation to post my name online for privacy and professional reasons but I am a longtime (14 years) OG resident. I was here before the bank.

    Keep on keeping on, Blogfinger!!

I remain most appreciative of your Blog. Looking forward to the changes. Particularly, enjoy the many quirky stories of our fellow OG residents as well as the beautiful photographs.

and yet another news source or should I say the only news source that was factual, honest, forthcoming of local and hard news, politics, zoning matters silenced for the residents and those who are away from the Grove.
My guess is Blogfinger took a hit which broke the camel’s back for reporting about Mary’s Place.
It was the only open window with that wonderful digital breeze blowing information and trying to keep transparency in Neptune.
The dark forces won and the window is shut Extremely disappointing. However I will continue to enjoy Blogfinger for all the other delightful articles and photos.
